RiverCity Water Polo Club is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and well-governed environment for all players, coaches, volunteers, families, officials, and visitors.

All members, parents and carers, players, coaches, managers, officials, volunteers, and committee members are encouraged to read the documents relevant to their role.
Child safety and member protection
The safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a priority for RiverCity Water Polo Club. Our child safe and member protection documents set out our expectations, responsibilities, and processes for keeping children safe and responding appropriately to concerns.

Inclusion, diversity, and participation
We want RiverCity to be a welcoming club where people can participate in water polo in a positive, respectful, and development-focused environment.

Communication, photography, and online conduct
These documents explain how we manage communication, social media, electronic messaging, photography, and image consent in a way that supports safety, privacy, and respect.

Raising a concern or making a complaint
If you have a concern about child safety, member behaviour, communication, selection, playing time, discrimination, bullying, harassment, photography, social media, or any other club matter, please raise it early so it can be handled appropriately.
Concerns can be raised with a coach, team manager, committee member, Member Protection Information Officer, Child Safety Officer, or through the Club’s formal complaints process.
For urgent child safety concerns, or if a child is at immediate risk, contact emergency services on 000.
For non-urgent club concerns, please refer to the Complaints Handling Procedure for the steps to follow.
Roles and responsibilities
Everyone involved in the Club has a role in creating a safe and positive environment.
Players are expected to participate respectfully, follow team and club expectations, and speak up if something does not feel right.
Parents and carers are expected to support positive participation, communicate respectfully, and help uphold the Club’s child safe and member protection standards.
Coaches, managers, officials, and volunteers are expected to model appropriate behaviour, follow Club policies and procedures, complete required screening and induction steps, and act on concerns.
Committee members are responsible for oversight, governance, record keeping, risk management, and ensuring the Club continues to improve its child safe practices.

These documents will be reviewed periodically and updated when required to reflect changes in law, sport requirements, Club operations, or good practice.
