Based out of Brisbane Grammar School's indoor pool, our club caters for juniors (aged 8 to 18), seniors and players of all skill levels.
Come and see why people are raving about one of Australia's fastest growing summer sports.
RIVER CITY NEWS
So the April holidays have been freed up. Have a safe and happy break!
10 of our 13 junior teams made finals, 5 made grand finals and the club won three premierships! We want to thank all the coaches, managers and volunteers that helped make the season so successful! We were particularly proud of the U18 boys who with only one true age U18 pushed the Barras hard in their Grand Final. It was a quality game of water polo. We are looking forward to seeing them in the GF next season!
RC Break up
As you can see from our Facebook page the Break up on March 28 at Somerville House was very popular. We handed out awards for all the junior teams and the 4 perpetual club trophies. See all the winners here. Our club person of the year organised the VERY popular Snow cones and the U18 Mums cooked up a storm on the BBQs. However, the Parents vs kids water polo game was the highlight with the parents taking out the win 3-2 after many dubious refereeing decisions! The kids lodged a protest but the appeal was denied by the 5 parents on the appeals panel.
Why you should consider RC for your young ladies!
Rivercity is a club that encourages all girls to play for their schools first but welcomes those that would want to improve by having a second and even third game with the club. This season was a perfect example of that. Our U14 B Premiership winning team had only 2 true age U14 players and the rest were U13 from the club, Bridgidine, Loretto and BGGS. Our U15C Premiership winning team started because we had an older sister who wanted to play so we created a team, we struggled to get numbers so we partnered with Warriors and after the first week when the team were a player down for the entire game the team was then undefeated for the rest of the season. Of the 13 Players, 3 were U15, 3 were U14 and the other seven were U13! Girls played up with us from BGGS, MBS & Loretto.
Rivercity Water Polo are very excited to announce that one of the best coaches in the country, Dmitry Gorshkov, will be heading up our winter training coaching team (5 coaches) and our winter program at the Somerville House pool from April 25. Sessions will be 90 minutes each, one Sunday a week for 8 weeks. Groups will be limited in size and based on ability (not age) so there may be some movement between groups in the first week or so.
U14 to U16 Girls will start at 2pm. Come and Try and U12's along with the U14&U16 boys will start at 3.30pm. Groups will be locked in after May 2 so if you have not registered prior you will miss out.
